VOLUNTEERS

If you'd like to experience the challenge and reward of guiding our young players as a Manager or a Coach please contact the club via the contact us page. Our young Wolves only make it on the field with your help.

SUPPORT FOR MANAGERS

Thank you for volunteering your time to manage a Wolves Rugby Team. The time you spend will help both children and parents alike enjoy making friends and memories which will last a lifetime.

What does a Manager need to do ?

  • Manage team communication with parents & guardians re: times/locations of games, wet weather updates etc. (we'd encourage to use the Team App Schedules page to communicate match times and locations)
  • Get a Working with Children Check (this is mandatory for all BJRU Managers) by following these steps ...
    1. Clicking here and get a Application Number (takes 3 mins!)
    2. Go to Service NSW/Motor Registry Office with Application Number & Drivers License
    3. Email your the Application Number to the President via Contact Us Page or directly
  • Register as a Volunteer via Rugby Xplorer App (Mandatory for Insurance Purposes)
    1. Registration process is the same as Player registration, except you select Volunteer instead of Player.
    2. Log in to your Rugby Xplorer Account and Click "Register". If your name does not appear then at the bottom Click on "Create a Linked Account" and proceed as normal.

  • Manage Team App Communications by
    • Ensuring all Parents in your Team have a Team App Account
      • Go to www.teamapp.com 1) Download 'Team App' 2) Search 'Balmain Junior Rugby Club' at the top of the screen 3) Click on 'Balmain Junior Rugby Club' to join
    • Update Parents details to ensure they are linked to the relevant player in Team App. Help Video
    • Update Parents details to ensure they have joined the relevant Access Group eg U10 Gold Help Video
    • Add Matches/Special Events in your teams Schedules page : Help Video
  • Liaise with Coach to track and manage playing/positional roster for each game
  • Coordinate any special team events e.g.
    • Junior Rugby March Past, Gala Days,
    • Mini-Matches before Balmain Seniors or Sydney Uni 1st Grade Home Games (ask the President!)
    • Video Analysis Team Night (ask our Coaching Director!)
  • Become familiar with Rugby Australia's Concussion Policy
  • U6-U9 Managers
    • Help coach track player substitutions and rotations to give all a fair go
    • Assist with Player of the Match Award Selection
  • U10-16 Managers
    • Download 'Rugby Match Day' App to your Phone and before each game ...
      1. Log in with your Rugby Xplorer email and password
      2. Select team lists at the bottom
      3. Check that the heading at the top is your team. Then Tap View
      4. Tap select player and select your first player from the drop down or start typing the name.
      5. Select Position
      6. Type in Jersey/Shirt number if you know the actual number. Click Add
      7. Continue for the rest of the team
      8. When you are finished tap Submit
      9. Then on Game Day ... enter match results via Rugby Match Day App
    • Appoint a qualified Assistant Referee & Ground Marshall for each game (competition points can be deducted if your team does not provide an Assistant Referee for all fixtures)
    • Ensure Assistant Referees and Ground Managers log into Rugby Learning Centre to do their corresponding online courses.
    • If your team is the first game of the day at Leichhardt No.2 please coordinate ground Set Up
    • If your team is the last game of the day at Leichhardt No. 2 please coordinate ground Pack Up
    • Review the SJRU Competition Rule (See Resources Page)
  • Determining Age Group
    • Technically a players Age Group is determined according to the age the player turns in that calendar year. That is, if a player turns 11 years of age between 1 January and 31 December (inclusive), then they would typically play in Under 11 for that season.
    • U6-U9s Minis Players have some leeway to play up or down (as long as they are not overly dominant players!
    • U10-U16 SJRU Players can play up an age group if they wish (most commonly on peer groupings) they can also play down an age group but only if they meet the SJRU dispenstion rules.
  • Transferable and Non-Transferable Players (U10s and Up)
    • All Players will be designated as either Transferable or Non-Transferable.
    • All Representative Players are designated as Non-Transferable and must be nominated in their Club's highest graded team in the corresponding age group.
    • A Non-Transferable player is one who cannot play in a lower Graded Team in their nominated Age Group.
    • In U10 and U11 there must be 8 Non_Transferable players in the highest graded team
    • In U12 and up there must be 12 Non_Transferable players in the highest graded team

COACHING ACCREDITATION (Mandatory under SJRU)

Coaches U8 and above must have completed the 'Smart Rugby' online program (renewed every 2 years) by going to the Rugby Learning Centre by following these steps;

  1. Click on https://rugby.force.com/rugbyportal/
  2. Login with your Rugbylink user (from last year) Please make sure that you are logging as the Parent and not child when completing these online modules. The accreditation is marked against the login record.
  3. Click on Rugby Learning Centre
  4. Click on Browse Learning, and click on the course.

The club strongly encourages all coaches U8s and above complete the Foundation Certificate Course 2019 Course Dates

CONCUSSION MANAGEMENT:

We ask all coaches to familiarise themselves with the new concussion policy of Rugby Australia in particular the '4Rs' Approach: Recognise, Remove, Record & Refer. See: Rugby Australia's Concussion Policy
